Our story
We started VERNIS because a manicure shouldn't be a coin flip.
Every studio we tried before opening our own did one thing well — never both. The fast ones rushed the cuticle work. The careful ones made you wait ninety minutes for a basic gel set. We didn't think a manicure should make you choose.
VERNIS opened in 2016 in a 400-square-foot space in Brooklyn, with one rule: every tool gets sterilized between every client, no exceptions, no rushing. That rule is still the first thing every technician learns, on day one, before they touch a client.
By 2019 we'd opened four more studios and written down everything that made the first one work — the menu, the pricing, the 120-hour training program — into a single playbook. Every studio since has run on it. That's why a gel manicure looks the same and costs the same whether you're in Brooklyn or Austin.

Do I need an appointment?
No — every studio takes walk-ins. Booking ahead just guarantees your time slot and skips any wait.
How do you sterilize your tools?
Metal tools go through hospital-grade autoclave sterilization between every single client. Files and buffers are single-use and tossed after your appointment.
Can I bring my own polish or a reference photo?
Both, happily. Most clients bring a screenshot for nail art — the more detail, the better the match.
Do you take walk-ins for kids?
Yes, kids 12 and under can walk in any time during open hours, no appointment needed.
What's your cancellation policy?
Cancel or reschedule up to 4 hours before your slot at no charge. After that, a $15 late-cancellation fee applies.
